In 2012, between 29 July and 4 August, the annual tournament will be arranged for the 40th time. Norway Cup was first held in 1972 where 420 teams participated. Since 1972, the Cup has had an average of 1 164 teams each year, with the participants ranging from the age of 10 to 19 and coming from about 50 to 60 different nations.
In modern times, Norway Cup has developed into much more than just the world's biggest football tournament, and has for many years been involved in several of the most important issues in society - The colourful friendship is one such example. Friendship across nationalities, cultures, languages, and skin colours is a dimension that is constantly becoming more important for the tournament, emerging it into an arena for co-existence, regardless of athletic level, religion, color, tradition and upbringing.
