The new grant scheme will run over a period of five years, starting 1 January 2016. In order to reach the overarching climate and development goals of the Norwegian International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI), the 2016-2020 portfolio will be focused on four thematic areas:
- Indigenous and Other Forest-dependent Populations’ Rights and Interests
- Commodity Supply Chains and Green Growth
- Legality, Transparency and Governance
- International Consensus on REDD+
The experience from the current portfolio of projects shows that such a thematic concentration helps create synergies between projects and facilitate learning experiences between organisations.
- Civil Society actors are making valuable gains on matters related to safeguards and wider governance issues. They will continue to be important actors for change within the REDD+ context, says Director of Norad’s Civil Society Department, Svein Bæra.
The deadline for submitting concept notes is 6 January 2015.
